Love sounds like something.
Soothing like the whisper of the Isla Vista ocean breeze rippling our snuggle hammock; percussive like the sliding door on my family's '96 Ford Aerostar slamming open as my 6 siblings and I piled in; or familiar like the wood bench creaking as I sit down at my piano, my oldest friend, to flood the keys with the songs of my heart.
The good, sweet sounds of love that flow through the heart are meant to be enjoyed in harmony, not compartmentalized. This album is a gathering place for soulful lovesongs and soul-filled hymns. Each is a journal entry, born in the boisterous, real living room of my heart.
Welcome to my journal, Hymns & Soul, the long awaited reunion of Love and lovin'.
For me, music is a vehicle meant to carry just one type of cargo: family.
Family is the source of my passion for music. Growing up in a home full of love and music in equal measure shaped me to know, I don't wanna go anywhere alone. I don't wanna walk through any "open doors" unless the squad is coming with me.
These people on this album cover mean the world to me. They represent my ever-expanding world of relatives, friends and loved ones who I want riding shotgun in the minivan of my life and music. Doing life with them, caring about their cares keeps me in touch with the divine Love that gives life and breath to every living thing.
You can keep your speedy cars and get-viral-fast methodology. We'd rather go our own way in a slow-and-steady, ole' faithful, nostalgic and comfy, captured-in-hifi '95 minivan with room enough for all of us for the long haul.
